Curriculum Statement

At Stockton Heath Primary School our pupils are encouraged to be independent, confident, inquisitive learners from the outset and our enquiry-based curriculum is mapped and developed to ensure this remains a continuous feature of learning throughout every key stage. Our curriculum design takes account of pupils’ backgrounds, life experiences and interests; a wide and varied range of curricular and extra-curricular experiences support and champion the school culture and ethos making our pupils proud of their school, their diverse community and British Values. High priority is placed on ensuring our pupils’ physical and mental wellbeing needs are always met; personal development is closely monitored with a thoughtful and flexible approach to SMSC. Every child is given the opportunity to shine and succeed, widening and deepening essential knowledge, skills, understanding and learning behaviours. Repetition, practise and revision of prior learning are integral features of our curriculum and help to develop deeper, higher order understanding of skills and processes in all subject areas.

Foundation Curriculum Overview

Our foundation curriculum intends to provide children with experiences so that they develop into confident, responsible, resilient citizens. We aim to provide children with a knowledge-rich, ambitious, broad and progressive curriculum whereby they have a sound understanding of the world and their locality. This includes a rich and varied vocabulary that helps children communicate in a mature and sophisticated manner. The breadth of our foundation curriculum allows children to learn through key areas of learning and skills which are built upon year on year, ensuring knowledge is in children’s long-term memory.

Here, you will find our curriculum overview for our foundation subjects. In separate subject pages you can find further information and resources to support your child's learning at home. If you have any further questions about our curriculum offer, please contact the school office.
